Rueda Verdejo
Rueda Verdejo
Rueda Verdejo is a lively Spanish white wine with citrus, fennel, and herbal notes, shaped by the high, cool, and windy plateau of the Rueda region in Castilla y León. The climate is continental with hot days and cold nights, helping preserve acidity and aromatics.
It’s brighter and more zesty than the rounder, peach-driven Godello from nearby Galicia, and far more widely available. Aromatic, fresh, crisp, and reliably popular, it shines with shellfish, tapas, soft cheeses, and light vegetable dishes.
Rueda Verdejo is made with a very freshness-focused, aroma-preserving approach. Fermentation in stainless steel at low temperatures to keep fruit aromas bright. Lees aging (if used) adds texture, creaminess, and subtle complexity. Most wines are unoaked, but some premium cuvées use large neutral barrels for depth.
