Ribera del Duero Reserva
Ribera del Duero Reserva
Ribera del Duero Reserva is a bold and dark-toned Spanish red made mainly from Tempranillo (locally called Tinto Fino), aged at least 3 years (1 in oak), known for its deep color, solid tannin structure, and complex notes of dark fruit, spice, tobacco, and leather. It’s widely respected and sought after, though less common than Rioja. Ribera tends to be bolder and more muscular, while Rioja is smoother and more nuanced.
Ribera del Duero is nestled on the northern plateau of Spain, in the autonomous community of Castile and León.
What makes the geography so special is its high altitude—vineyards sit between 750 and 850 meters above sea level. This elevation creates dramatic temperature swings between day and night, which helps grapes retain acidity and develop complex aromas. The soils are also diverse contributing to the region’s bold, structured red wines.
Ribera pairs beautifully with savory lamb dishes, venison stew, or aged Manchego cheese.
